International Symposium: Human-Centred Urban Intelligence: AI, Spatial Intelligence, and Future Cities

The Architecture department at the Faculty of Engineering at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), in collaboration with Urban Governance and Design thrust–Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), is pleased to host a one-day international symposium entitled “Human-Centred Urban Intelligence: AI, Spatial Intelligence, and Future Cities” bringing together leading researchers from the Urban Governance and Design (UGOD) Thrust at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).

This event marks a significant step in establishing a formal academic partnership between two institutions committed to advancing sustainable, people-centered urban futures. The symposium explores the intersections of artificial intelligence, spatial intelligence, digital twin technologies, and human-centered urban design. It brings together researchers whose work spans GeoAI, urban informatics, 3D city modeling, immersive environments, urban health, and social governance — all converging around a shared question: how can emerging technologies serve cities and their people more equitably and intelligently.

Beyond knowledge exchange, the symposium serves as a launchpad for concrete collaboration. MSA University’s President has warmly welcomed the HKUST(GZ) delegation, and both institutions are prepared to formalize their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

Proposed areas of collaboration include joint research projects, student exchange programs, co-supervised theses, and shared workshops in architecture, urban design, and AI-driven spatial analysis.

This gathering reflects a shared belief that the future of cities must be designed with — not just for — their inhabitants, and that the collaboration between Egyptian and Chinese academic institutions can generate research of global relevance.

The Pharmacology Department at the Faculty of Pharmacy at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), in collaboration with the MWHO, will be hosting a thought-provoking symposium under the title “From Awareness to Action: Supporting Neurodiverse Students in Their Mental Health Journey.”

The event will bring together professional speakers in the field of psychiatry from Iwan Psychiatry Hospital to explore the mental health needs of neurodiverse students, including those with conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and anxiety disorders. Discussions will focus on practical strategies for fostering inclusive academic environments and providing effective psychological support.

This symposium will feature:

This year’s theme, “Egypt… and Its People,” aims to highlight the diverse Egyptian identities and cultural icons that reflect the country’s societal values and historical legacy. Dramatic Vision: Media and Health

The Faculty of Mass Communication at October for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) will hold a symposium entitled “Dramatic Vision: Media and Health”, on Monday 15th of November, 2021 as part of the activities prior to its seventh conference to be held from the 3rd to the 5th of December, 2021 on health media in the digital era, in the presence of “خلي بالك من زيزي” series crew and casts which is the first Arabic TV show to address ADHD.

The symposium will discuss the importance of the role played by the media in addressing contemporary health issues and spreading awareness among citizens.

This symposium will be attended by the astounding director of the show Kareem Shenawi, the distinguished writer Maryam Naoum, the marvelous actor Sabry Fawaz, the young artist Gala Hisham who is a MSA Mass Communication graduate, and the psychiatrist Dr. Nabil Ali Nasr.

On the sidelines of the symposium, a media campaign about the disease will be presented and prepared by Micheleen Amir and Farah El Zahed- graduates of the Faculty Radio and Television Department.
