On the sidelines of the First International Physical Therapy Conference at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University), and in line with the university’s commitment to fostering collaboration across healthcare disciplines, an Interprofessional Education (IPE) Workshop was held bringing together students from the Faculties of Pharmacy and Physical Therapy in an engaging and integrative educational experience.

The workshop commenced with a theoretical session introducing the concept and significance of Interprofessional Education in modern healthcare practice. This was followed by a focused presentation addressing the role of physical therapy in diabetes management, highlighting the importance of rehabilitation and physical activity in improving patient outcomes.

A complementary session on diabetes medications was also delivered, emphasizing drug interactions and their potential impact on physical therapy interventions, thereby promoting a deeper understanding of integrated patient care among participating students.

The workshop further included a clinical round conducted within the Physical Therapy clinics, where students were organized into interprofessional teams to collaboratively analyze and discuss real clinical cases from both pharmacy and physical therapy perspectives. This practical component enhanced students’ clinical reasoning, patient-centered care approaches, communication skills, and shared decision-making abilities within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.

Overall, the workshop highlighted the critical importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and provided students with a valuable platform to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical clinical skills in a real-world healthcare environment.
