Cultural Salon Seminar Explores “Sinai Liberation: The Decision and Its Impact”
As part of its commitment to fostering national awareness and intellectual dialogue, the Cultural Salon of the Faculty of Mass Communication at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) hosted a distinguished seminar entitled “Sinai Liberation: The Decision and Its Impact” on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The seminar welcomed the renowned strategic thinker and military expert Major General Dr. Samir Farag, and was attended by a large audience of students, faculty members, and administrative staff. The event commenced with the National Anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by a documentary presentation highlighting the strategic importance of Sinai and Egypt’s efforts throughout the journey of its liberation. An introductory video about the guest speaker was also presented.
During his keynote lecture, Major General Dr. Samir Farag delivered a comprehensive overview of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ achievements, focusing on the crossing of the Suez Canal and Egypt’s victory in the October 1973 War. He explained that the liberation of Sinai was accomplished through four major stages. The first stage was achieved through military action, followed by the Peace Treaty, then international arbitration. These three stages took place during the eras of the late Presidents Anwar El-Sadat and Hosni Mubarak. The fourth stage, he noted, was the elimination of terrorism in Sinai during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The lecture was followed by an engaging discussion session, during which attendees actively participated by raising questions and exchanging views with the speaker. The dialogue was marked by its richness and depth, reflecting the audience’s keen interest in the topic.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Amany Fahmy presented the MSA University Shield to Major General Dr. Samir Farag in appreciation of his valuable contribution and distinguished lecture.
The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Aidy Ali Gomaa, Coordinator of the Cultural Salon.
The seminar reflected MSA University’s continued dedication to providing educational and cultural platforms that enhance students’ understanding of Egypt’s history, national achievements, and strategic challenges while encouraging meaningful engagement with leading experts and public figures.
