<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Faculty of Languages at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) successfully hosted the Master&#8217;s thesis defense of Researcher Eman Ali Hassan El Sherazly, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Arts in English Language Studies (Cultural Studies).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The thesis, entitled &#8220;Navigating Fragile Familial Bonds: An Affective Reading of Filicide in Selected Works,&#8221; explored the complexities of familial relationships through an interdisciplinary cultural and literary perspective, offering valuable scholarly insights into the representation of filicide in selected literary works.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The defense was evaluated by a distinguished examination committee comprising:</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The events were held at the House of Representatives headquarters in the New Administrative Capital and were chaired by H.E. MP Mohamed Abou El Enein, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The summit brought together Speakers of Parliament, parliamentary delegations, and representatives of member states, providing an important platform for dialogue and regional cooperation. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The session was led by Moʻnica Munizaga, creative writer and project manager in Reading Development Projects, who shared her extensive international experience spanning over 20 years in schools and universities across Chile and beyond.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our participants explored innovative approaches to storytelling that integrate sensory experience, creativity, reading mediation, and artistic expression. Drawing on her rich background as a poet, storyteller, and cultural practitioner, Munizaga inspired attendees with practical techniques connecting literature, performance, and the arts.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) is proudly participating in the 2026 Cairo International Book Fair with a distinguished set of literary and translation contributions, reflecting the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting cultural movement, promoting knowledge dissemination, and fostering intellectual awareness.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">MSA’s participation features the presence of Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, who took part in several specialized panel discussions addressing artistic and heritage-related topics, in addition to exploring key issues surrounding the protection of intellectual and cultural property in the era of technological transformation and artificial intelligence applications.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dr. Safaan Amer, a faculty member at the Faculty of Languages and lecturer of Spanish language courses, is presenting a collection of specialized publications in the Spanish language and Spanish language education. These works enrich the Arabic library in this field and reflect his academic and research expertise.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The exhibition also includes the contribution of Abdelrahman Haggag, a graduate of the Faculty of Mass Communication at MSA University, who has authored a book that represents a valuable addition to the literary works showcased at the fair and highlights the strong presence and impact of MSA graduates within the cultural scene.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the field of translation, several members of the Faculty of Languages are presenting translated works that demonstrate the faculty’s vital role in supporting translation movement and building bridges of cultural communication. Contributors include Dr. Yasmin Fahd (Assistant Professor), Noran Ashraf (Faculty Member), Malak Khaled (Teaching Assistant), and Somaya Abdel Wahab El-Samahy (Assistant Lecturer).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Through this notable participation, MSA reaffirms its dedication to supporting intellectual and literary creativity, strengthening its presence in major cultural events, and reinforcing its role as a leading educational institution committed to knowledge production and community service.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) proudly celebrates a remarkable academic achievement by three postgraduate students from the Faculty of Languages, who secured top positions in the research competition organized by the National Council for Women in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The competition, held under the title “Technology-Facilitated Violence Against Women,” brought together a distinguished group of leading Egyptian public universities in partnership with the National Council for Women to address pressing societal challenges related to digital technologies, women’s rights, and human dignity.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Demonstrating exceptional research excellence and analytical depth, Donia Khaled and Malak Khaled were awarded First Place, while Mayar Mahdy achieved Second Place, reflecting the high quality of research produced by MSA students and the university’s strong academic framework in tackling contemporary societal issues.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The awarded research aligns closely with the national priorities of Egypt Vision 2030, particularly in promoting women’s empowerment, protecting human rights, and fostering responsible and ethical engagement with digital technologies.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Faculty of Languages, in collaboration with Giza North Rotary Club, hosted a special event on “Orienteering”.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In its ongoing efforts to promote sports that enhance cognitive skills, the Faculty of Languages at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) in collaboration with The Giza North Rotary Club, organized a unique educational and athletic event focused on orienteering. The event aimed to introduce this sport, which combines physical effort with mental skills such as map reading, compass use, decision-making, time management, perseverance, observation, and exploration.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The event was attended by prominent club leaders, including the current president, Ahmed Al-Mata’a, accompanied by former president Counselor Mohamed Abu Shanab, vice president Eng. Mohamed El-Baily, and club secretary Eng. Sahar Gharib.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The activity received enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and supporting staff, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to developing students’ cognitive skills in line with the evolving and growing demands of the job market.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dr. Saafan Amer’s participation in this high-level international parliamentary event reflects his professional excellence and advanced linguistic expertise, as well as the strong academic and practical foundation provided by October University for Modern Sciences and Arts. His role contributed effectively to facilitating communication and dialogue at a major diplomatic and parliamentary forum attended by delegations from across the Euro-Mediterranean region.</p>
