<p>The Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) successfully organized a series of dynamic and highly engaging Poster Sessions as part of the *Industrial Projects Course, with the participation of 228 students.</p>



<p>During the sessions, students presented their innovative research proposals before a panel of two distinguished academic examiners. The event marked the culmination of a comprehensive academic journey that integrated immersive lectures, insightful guest speaker sessions, and supervised field visits, all aimed at bridging theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world applications.</p>



<p>The presented posters showcased a diverse range of forward-thinking topics in biotechnology, with a strong focus on developing competitive project proposals aligned with the <em>Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF)</em> criteria. These projects covered cutting-edge fields such as 3D printing and artificial intelligence, marine biotechnology, phytoremediation, food biotechnology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, and drug design.</p>



<p>What distinguished this cohort was not only the scientific depth of their work but also its strong relevance to global challenges. Many projects addressed critical societal and environmental issues, proposing innovative and sustainable solutions aligned with circular economy principles. Collectively, these efforts contribute to the achievement of the <em>United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)</em>, reflecting a strong commitment to responsible, impactful, and future-oriented scientific innovation.</p>

<p>Students from the Faculty of Biotechnology at October University For Modern Sciences And Arts (MSA) have achieved a remarkable scientific milestone, earning second place at the 3rd International Conference – Faculty of Pharmacy, October 6 University (06U), held under the theme “Next-Gen Pharmacy: Green Innovation, Sustainability, and Artificial Intelligence.”</p>



<p>The award-winning project, titled “Loopet: Smart Utilization of Poultry Waste into Functional Biomass for Use in Aquaculture and Pet Food within Egypt’s Bioeconomy,” was developed by students Radwa Kamal, Rahma Hussein, and Research Assistant Moaz Mandour. The project presents an innovative approach to sustainability by transforming poultry waste into valuable bio-resources, contributing to environmentally responsible solutions and supporting Egypt’s bioeconomy.</p>



<p>Notably, the project had previously secured second place at UNESCO 2026, further highlighting its scientific value and global relevance.</p>

<p>The 9th Biotechnology Horizons 2050 Symposium opened with remarks by Dr. Mahmoud Suleyman, Complex Genome Analysis course instructor.</p>



<p>Students then presented their review articles, reflecting strong research skills and teamwork.</p>



<p>The symposium featured a distinguished lineup of speakers: Dr. Christina Vimala Supramaniam, a Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology and Programme Leader for MSc Biotechnology at the University of Greenwich, UK, specializing in DNA sequencing and sustainable biotechnology; Dr. Arwa Mo’men Elhabbaa, former Bioinformatics Specialist at Colors Medical Lab and Teaching Assistant at H3ABioNet, with expertise in genomics and computational biology and Ms. Yasmin Hatem, a Senior Research Associate at Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357, focusing on tumor metabolism and drug discovery.</p>



<p>The day concluded with student artifact presentations, showcasing creativity and innovation.</p>



<p>It was a day where legacy meets innovation, and ideas evolve into impact.</p>

<p>MSA University’s Faculty of Biotechnology hosted a distinguished scientific and cultural event featuring a lecture titled &#8220;Secrets of the Pharaohs,&#8221; delivered by the world-renowned archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, amidst a high-profile academic audience.</p>



<p>The event was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ayman Diab, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Gehan Safwat, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; and Prof. Dr. Rania Momtaz, Professor of Bioarchaeology at the faculty, as part of the institution&#8217;s commitment to providing exceptional scientific and cultural activities.</p>



<p>The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Nawal El-Degwi, Head of the Board of Trustees; Dr. Engy Mansour; and Prof. Dr. Nader El Bokle, President of the University, alongside faculty deans, the Director of the Egyptian Museum, a distinguished group of archaeologists, faculty members, and students.</p>



<p>Dr. Zahi Hawass delivered a captivating lecture, taking the audience on a journey deep into ancient Egyptian civilization. He showcased prominent archaeological discoveries and the secrets of the Pharaohs, imbuing the day with an inspiring scientific character that reflects the grandeur and richness of Egyptian history.</p>



<p>Additionally, he presented two signed copies of his books—one to Dr. Nawal El-Degwi and the other to the University Library.</p>

<p>October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of its senior students from the Faculty of Biotechnology, during their participation in the Science at the Core of Innovation Conference (SCI 2026), held at the Faculty of Science – Cairo University, from April 7 to 8, 2026, with wide participation from university students and researchers, alongside distinguished academics and industry experts.</p>



<p>The conference serves as a scientific platform that aims to support innovation and strengthen the link between scientific research and industrial applications, through showcasing outstanding research projects and providing networking opportunities with supporting entities and specialized companies.</p>



<p>The students presented their graduation project entitled: “The Fructose–Pyrimidine Axis as a Metabolic Vulnerability in Aggressive vs. Non-Aggressive Breast Cancer,” which was awarded the Best Research Idea Award in recognition of its innovation and scientific impact.</p>

<p>As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening students’ engagement with the industry and enriching academic learning through practical exposure, the Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) organized an educational field visit within the framework of the Industrial Projects course to Juhayna Food Industries, one of Egypt’s leading companies in high-quality dairy and beverage production, located in 6th of October City.</p>



<p>A group of 26 students, accompanied by two staff members, had the opportunity to tour both the dairy and fermented products facility as well as the beverages manufacturing plant. Throughout the visit, students observed advanced production lines, quality control protocols, and industry-standard safety procedures. This hands-on experience offered valuable insight into large-scale manufacturing processes, innovative technologies, and the rigorous quality standards that characterize the biotechnology-driven food production sector.</p>



<p>This initiative underscores the Faculty’s dedication to bridging academic knowledge with real-world industrial applications, ensuring that students gain practical perspectives that enhance their professional preparedness and future career readiness.</p>

<p>The Faculty of Biotechnology was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Nader El Bokle, President of October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), during a special ceremony held to recognize 36 outstanding students from the faculty.</p>

<p>He was received by Prof. Dr. Ayman Diab, Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology, and Prof. Dr. Gehan Safwat, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, in celebration of the students’ remarkable achievements in the SOLE 2026 Competition.</p>

<p>The faculty’s students delivered an exceptional performance, securing first, second, third, fourth, and fifth places across all categories of the competition—one of the most prominent and competitive biotechnology events in Egypt, with participation from more than 16 Egyptian universities.</p>

<p>This outstanding accomplishment crowns a period of intensive preparation and close supervision provided by the faculty. The students represented MSA University with great distinction, demonstrating exceptional levels of competence and excellence. Their achievements reaffirm the quality of the faculty’s advanced academic framework and hands-on training approach, which are designed to prepare students for both national and international competitions with confidence and capability.</p>

<p>The University President praised the students’ high performance and extended his sincere wishes for their continued success and excellence.</p>

This program effectively bridged academic learning with real-world healthcare applications, enhancing students’ practical competencies and overall professional readiness.</p>



<p>The training was delivered by Dr. Hany Aboul Naga, a distinguished Egyptian clinical nutritionist, author, and media figure. As the Founder of the Fitness &amp; Dance Academy (FDA) and CEO of H-Plan, his expertise in obesity management, nutrition science, and health education provided students with a highly practical and applied learning experience.</p>

<p>This semester, a total of 282 students pursued their graduation projects across 30 reputable venues, including new venues such as the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (Central Laboratories Department), Genome Medical Center, Faculty of Medicine at Kasr Al-Aini, Cairo University, Hoor Apiaries, and the Agricultural Research Center.</p>



<p>We were honored to welcome over 70 distinguished examiners, whose valuable feedback and participation emphasized the high scientific quality of the students’ work.</p>



<p>Students presented a diverse array of graduation projects resulting in 43 tangible products and functional prototypes including a humanoid robot for patient diagnosis, synbiotic chocolate, adulteration detection strips, advanced topical formulations for wound healing, and eco-friendly materials made from recycled plastics.</p>



<p>Additionally, students achieved remarkable success in national scientific and innovation competitions. They secured top rankings on prominent platforms, including the SOLE Competition 2025, the Egyptian Junior Researcher Competition, the Biotechnology Innovation Competitions, and the Smart Industry Hackathon.</p>



<p>Moreover, an outstanding project received 500,000 EGP in national startup funding, while other projects obtained research and innovation grants totaling 20,000 EGP.</p>



<p>Several students have successfully published their research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Q1 and Q2 publications such as Frontiers in Microbiology and Applied Sciences, with additional manuscripts currently under review.</p>



<p>We are extremely proud of our students. This day represents not just an ending but the start of meaningful scientific endeavors led by a new generation of biotechnology innovators.</p>
