The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Pharmacy at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) organized an awareness session titled \u201cEtiquette for Interacting with Persons with Disabilities,\u201d delivered by Dr. Yasmin Matar, an expert at the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, as part of the faculty\u2019s efforts to promote a culture of inclusion and raise awareness of disability-related issues among students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the session, Dr. Yasmin Matar highlighted the principles of proper communication with individuals with hearing and visual disabilities. She presented practical examples of various everyday situations encountered by persons with disabilities, explaining common mistakes and how to correct them to ensure respect for their privacy and provide appropriate support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also discussed the importance of tactile maps within educational institutions and their role in enhancing the independence of visually impaired students and facilitating their movement across campus, in accordance with the standards of universal accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The speaker emphasized the principle of inclusion rather than segregation, stressing the importance of integrating students with disabilities in university activities and avoiding treating them separately, in support of an inclusive educational environment that promotes equality for all students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
