Fayrouz Waleed Wins Prestigious Global Award for “Kemetica” Project

October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) proudly congratulates Fayrouz Waleed, an Interior Design student at the Faculty of Arts and Design, Class of 2025, for winning the Interior Design Award in the 51st Cycle of the World Architecture Community Awards for her outstanding graduation project, “Kemetica– Developing Handicraft Spaces to Empower Local Artisans and Promote Innovation in Local Products” (Academic Year 2024–2025).

The World Architecture Community Awards is one of the most prestigious international recognitions in architecture and design. It celebrates outstanding creativity and innovation worldwide, featuring categories for professional practice as well as innovative student concepts.

In her award-winning project, Fayrouz designed a Handicraft and Innovation Center in Dahshur, Egypt, aimed at supporting local artisans and promoting sustainable production inspired by Egyptian heritage. The project utilizes natural materials such as mud bricks, palm fronds, and limestone, combining cultural identity with environmental preservation.

The project emphasizes community empowerment and encourages traditional craftsmanship while contributing to global sustainable development goals. It demonstrates how architecture can play a transformative role in local communities, blending cultural heritage with modern, environmentally conscious design strategies.

MSA extends its warmest congratulations to Fayrouz Waleed on this remarkable international achievement. The university takes immense pride in the creativity and innovation of its Faculty of Arts and Design students, whose work continues to connect the rich legacy of Egyptian heritage with principles of sustainable and socially responsible architecture.
