MSA Contributes to a National Research Achievement Supporting Egypt’s Path Toward Zero Emissions

The Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI), in collaboration with October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), organized a workshop to present the outcomes of the research project funded by the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) titled:
“Production of Sustainable Clean Fuel and the Design and Implementation of an Exhaust Gas Tracking and Analysis Device to Achieve the Climate Race Toward Zero Emissions” (STDF46888).

The workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Nour Shafik El Gendy – Head of the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), Member of the Scientific Excellence Center for Projects and Entrepreneurship, Member of the Technology Transfer and Commercialization Office (TICO) at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), Professor of Environmental Sciences at EPRI, and Principal Investigator of the project; and attended by Prof. Dr. Tarek Shazly, Acting Director of the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute.

Held under the theme “Think Environmentally… Act Environmentally”, the event brought together distinguished scientists, researchers, industry representatives, and environmental specialists, supporting the implementation of Egypt’s National Climate Change Strategy 2050 and the national transition toward a green economy.

✅ The MSA University research team presented several applied scientific outputs, including:

Developing an integrated system for producing biofuel from agricultural waste with low carbon, water, and energy footprints.
Synthesizing green nanocatalysts to enhance desulfurization processes and produce sustainable clean fuel using CO₂.
Designing and manufacturing an advanced national device for measuring and analyzing exhaust gases using high-precision sensing technologies.
Evaluating diesel engine performance using the newly produced clean fuels.
Conducting economic and environmental assessments to ensure industrial feasibility and long-term sustainability.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Tarek Shazly honored the research team members in recognition of their distinguished scientific contributions.

October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) proudly celebrated the remarkable achievements of its students during a special recognition ceremony hosted by the Centre of Excellence. The event honored students who excelled in a range of national competitions and hackathons throughout the 2025 academic year.

Held in a spirit of pride and celebration, the ceremony highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the winning projects—featuring collaborative efforts from students across the Faculties of Engineering, Computer Sciences, Dentistry, and Management Sciences. These projects stood as a testament to the power of innovation, creativity, and teamwork.

The celebration was held under the esteemed patronage of:

During the event, the university leadership expressed their deep appreciation for the students’ efforts and applauded their ability to transform academic knowledge into real-world solutions. Prof. Dr. Khayri Abdel Hamid and Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh also emphasized the importance of expanding such impactful initiatives across all faculties and encouraged both students and faculty members to reach out to the Centre of Excellence for support, mentorship, and guidance to engage in future competitions.

MSA’s Center Of Excellence Installs Second Automated Marine Pollution Monitoring Station

The Center of Excellence for Scientific Projects and Entrepreneurship at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), led by Prof. Dr. Tarek Saleh, has proudly completed the installation of the second automated marine pollution monitoring station at the Eastern Port, in collaboration with the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) and Short Circuit, one of the startups founded through MSA’s Entrepreneurship Program.

💧 This new station is part of the project:
“Real Time Water Quality Network for Marine Pollution Monitoring and Detection”, funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. Following the successful operation of the first station at Lake Mariout, work is currently underway to install two additional stations within this national initiative.

A Research Team Of MSA Secures Patent for Innovative Emissions Tracking Technology

A groundbreaking achievement in environmental sustainability has been accomplished by a research team from October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA). Through a project funded by the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STIFA), the team has successfully developed an integrated process for producing sustainable clean fuel alongside the design and implementation of an exhaust gas tracking and analysis device. This innovation aims to contribute to the global climate race towards net-zero emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.
The project, led by Prof.Dr. Nour Shafik El Gendy, Head of the Innovation and Technology Support Office and a member of the Scientific Excellence Center for Projects and Entrepreneurship at MSA University, has received official intellectual property protection from the Egyptian Patent Office. The patent recognizes the integrated circuit for exhaust gas data display and zero calibration, a critical component in enhancing emissions tracking and promoting local industry as an alternative to imported technologies.

The distinguished research team also includes :

MSA University Innovators Triumph with the Digital and Technological Innovation Award

October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) proudly announces that Dr. Nour Shafik El-Gendy, Professor of Environmental Sciences and Head of Quality, Environmental Safety, and Occupational Health at the University, alongside Eng. Ahmed Aboul-Fadl from the University’s Center of Excellence, received the Innovation Award in Digital and Technological Fields. This prestigious award was presented at the International Conference of the Patent Office, which focused on advancements in agriculture and food security.

The conference, hosted by the National Research Centre from October 29 to 31, 2024, took place under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Her Excellency Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment. Additional esteemed attendees included Dr. Gina El-Feki, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and Dr. Fagr Abdel-Gawad, Acting President of the National Research Centre, with conference leadership by Dr. Wafaa Haggag.
